Volume estimates use a cylindrical approximation and 85 cu. ft. of solid wood per 128-cu.-ft. stacked cord, followed by a provisional 5% scrap deduction. Pre-cut rounds are assumed to be at least 16 inches long and are valued using exactly 16 inches, even if some are longer. Initial premiums are +5% for rounds and +5% for oak, hickory, sugar maple, cherry, beech, or walnut; premiums add together to +10% for premium rounds. Firewood is expected to season for 18 months before retail sale; this is a planned holding period, not an additional volume or payout deduction. Rot, hollow centers, taper, bark, and other defects may reduce accepted volume. Final payout is subject to delivery and inspection.
